Oh. It was me. I drove that beater to work.
Dunno why but the Wago’s hail dents are really popping today. Also all the grease staining on the bumper really shows off how faded the bumper is. Seriously this picture doesn’t do justice to how dimpled this thing is.
I think I’ll go ahead and re-attach the badges this week. That should help. Probably. I also got one of those PDR tools for XMas. This car will make good practice . Can’t hurt anyway.
In related news I drove the Wagovan to work today and it seemed... OK. I’m planning a full write up on what I’ve done since the last update. Tl;dr I think the stalling issue is still present, but greatly reduced. That said it was early and I was tired, so I didn’t poke the bear.

It looks awesome. Here is what I commuted in today... The clutch was kind enough to wait until I was out of DC to shit the bed. It may be the end of an era...

What do your coworkers think of your automotive shenanigans?
Where you trying to get called out for parking in a handicapped spot? =)

Amused with varying degrees of understanding. Boss is a petrolhead, boss’s boss had crappy cars because that was all he could afford , so he doesn’t understand the appeal of driving crappy cars on purpose. (Understandably)
Haha I always forget about that when I take these. The sign was removed and the spot officially deemed fair game by management, but they couldn’t be bothered to remove the paint.

Yeah I haven’t been able to get a shot that really shows how much hail damage there is. A lot. Also the lighting was favorable to the bumper haha. That said I like the car in spite of its faults.

This isn't any different from my previous supervisor at my last job. She drove one of these things, lowered and obviously hooned and stanced.

I'm not sure. I'm going to park it and figure out what it would take. Would be a shame to get rid of it.

“Degress of understanding” is a great way of putting it. What do the two of them drive? I really laughed at “ doesn’t understand the appeal of driving crappy cars on purpose” - ha!
My boss loves this stuff and dailys a modified Z4M. Boss’s boss is a Porsche guy, currently rocking a new 4S convertible . His son, who also works here, used to own a Ferrari. But there are definitely some in my office (and in my life) that really don’t get the fascination, and definitely don’t understand why I take trips for the sole purpose of driving or why I would own one, much less two, cars with a manual transmission.
You should stay late one night and make some creative edits to “handicapped guy” - thinking a hat, some nice kicks, a fishing pole...

That is a pretty good collection!
We don’t have such an auspicious collection here. Boss drives a 2018 Camaro RS and a 2016 WRX, both manual.
Boss’s boss drives a late -200 0s Infinity sedan of some ilk. So boring I couldn’t be bothered to look at the model. While I know he could afford a better/ newer car, I get the impression it was his first “expensive” car and he is just going to drive the wheels off it. (Which I support)
There are a couple interesting cars here and there. A mid-2000s 325i that the guy has owned since he 16 (~15 years), a stanced del Sol, a lightly built FJ Cruiser, and a couple resto-modded vintage trucks, but very few actual petrolheads about. One of our other engineers does do sprint car racing, so I guess that counts... but you can’t exactly drive those to work haha.

The Ferrari was well before my time here, fwiw. Another guy has a Mustang GT (but rarely drives it), and another used to have an IS F, but is now driving a new Land Cruiser.
It’s definitely a trend that the wealthiest people often are driving decade-old, high mileage, well-kept luxury sedans or SUVs. You don’t grow wealth by spending it on a new car every few years!
That’s an eclectic group - I like it. Did he take the week off for the Chili Bowl? I guy in my neighborhood has one, and his son is competing in it this week. I’ve always wanted to go watch a race there, but never have gotten around to it.

He usually does the Chili Bowl, but I think he is skipping this year. Just got back from a temporary assignment in Dubai, n ew house, new shop, new wife, new baby... a lot going on haha.

Wow. Yeah...
When do you get to go to Dubai?
